IT Home reported on January 7 that AMD released its latest Ryzen 7 9850X3D processor yesterday, but the R9 9950X3D2 that enthusiasts had been eagerly anticipating did not make an appearance.

Regarding the rumors that the R9 9950X3D2 has been canceled, AMD executives told Computerbase in an interview after the conference that "stay tuned", hinting that this performance flagship featuring "dual 3D V-Cache memory chips" is still on the plan.

Computerbase discovered that AMD officials also uploaded an image of a CPU with its cover removed, which appears to feature dual 3D V-Cache memory chips.

▲ Dual CCD Model ▲ According to the on-site announcement at CES 2026, AMD's recently released R7 9850X3D boasts an average performance improvement of approximately 7% compared to its predecessor, the R7 9800X3D, and is slated for release this quarter.

▲ Single CCD model ▲ Besides the official news, GIGABYTE also teased the new generation of "Ryzen 9000X3D" series processors at the CES 2026 event, with the slogan "More cores, higher frequencies, greater potential".

Since the R7 9850X3D has been released and maintains its original 8-core configuration, and the standard 9950X3D was launched last year, the industry generally believes that the higher specification product referred to by GIGABYTE is the R9 9950X3D2 featuring a dual-cache chip design.

However, as AMD had "flagged" last year that dual-cache chips were not practical and not cost-effective, it is likely that this flagship processor will not be released until later.
